Tonight, we'll share some grog with friends and unseal the New Year's predictions we made a year ago. I was the only one, I think, to predict Obama and McCain as the presidential nominees, with an Obama win.
How tough was that, you ask? At the time, polls had Obama trailing Clinton 40/32 and McCain was running 5th, at 12%, a point behind Fred Thompson.
We'll have to come up with new categories this year. Maybe one can predict actions by the new president in his first 100 days.

In case you'd forgotten, the soon-to-depart incumbent's first actions were to end funding to international centers that offered family planning and abortions; creating an Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives; and presenting a budget with the largest tax cut in two decades.
We can hope for better.
