I'm no expert on court room strategy, but it looks to me like double-murderer Steven Van Keuren is setting up grounds for an appeal on the basis of incompetent legal representation with this exchange:
Van Keuren testified that he heard police break into the home and he sat bleeding, facing the bedroom door, hoping they would shoot and kill him.
"You still were alive?" asked his attorney, Matthew Ludt.
"Yes," Van Keuren replied.
