Last week, the president of NARAL Pro-Choice America and the president of Christian Coalition of America wrote a joint op/ed for the Washington Post.
The issue at hand was a refusal by Verizon Wireless to extend its text-messaging short code service to NARAL, claiming its right to block any content that it decided "may be seen as controversial or unsavory."
Verizon backed down, but the issue hasn't gone away. I earlier wrote of another instance involving ISPs, and my post attracted dissent from conservative econ professor King Banaian.
Interesting that two potential adversaries could find common cause over the issue, while King and I only rattled each other's cages.
I wonder if their collaboration has anything to do with Reuniting America, a project to encourage civil dialogue across America's various divides. Christian Coalition President Roberta Combs is on its steering committee and Communications Director Michele Combs has been a participant. Other advisors include Julie Ristau, Director of the Utne Institute and Leif Utne of Utne Magazine.
Before long, Joey Monson and I will be starting our conversation.
Who's next?
