Two of us were sitting at a busy intersection in the northwest suburbs, bikes to the curb, minding the light. When it changed, on of us was apparently too slow off the mark for Mr. Blue Van making a right turn.
"Get off the road, goddamn it!"

Traffic calming and diversion that benefits cyclists is also good for pedestrians, kids and neighborhood property values. In general, well-designed improvements that increase usability or access for one group turn out benefiting others, too.
Unless you're in the the Blue Van Group.
